In Parashat VeYeilech, Moses is 120 years old. He will not lead the people of Israel across the Jordan and into the Promised Land, so he calls Joshua, who will lead the people, and gives him words of encouragement. He also warns the people never to forget Torah, and tells them they are to gather publicly every seven years to hear the reading of the Torah.
God appears to Moses and Joshua warning them that the people of Israel may stray from the ways of the covenant. He tells them to write Torah down and teach it to the people. He encourages Joshua telling him the He will be with him.
